Betty Berrington Seibert, FCUSA, FISTD, Dip

Betty Berrington Seibert, FCUSA, FISTD, Dip, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of dance as a result of more than 40 years of professional experience in all elements of dance, including the past twenty years as the Founder and Owner of the Cheshire Dance Centre.

Cheshire Dance Centre is a dance studio providing student, teacher, and pre-professional education in multiple dance disciplines, including the Cecchetti method of classical ballet, the Humphrey-Limón tradition of modern dance, the ISTD curriculum of tap, and several other dance styles, including jazz, musical theatre, and hip-hop. Betty’s leadership at Cheshire Dance Centre is built on a foundation of her earlier careers as a professional ballerina with the Florida Ballet Company, a performer in numerous musical theatre productions under the auspices of Actors Equity Association, and as a choreographer in both classical ballet and musical theatre traditions, as well as professional, amateur, and high school musical theatre productions – from Florida to Maine. Her dance education credentials have earned her international recognition from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) in London, England, and from Cecchetti USA here in the United States. She has served as the Executive Director of Cecchetti USA and continues to serve as its Director of Examinations.

She is a founding member of Cecchetti International Classical Ballet, where she is currently serving in her third term as its Chairman – elected by her peers in seven national Cecchetti organizations. Betty is also certified as an international examiner and examines all levels of dancers and teachers in the United States and Canada. As a dancer, she is one of fewer than 200 dancers around the world to be awarded the Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma. Betty has also served as a keynote speaker for the National Ballet of Canada’s special recognition award to her teacher, Jean Spear. Betty has founded multiple dance companies, including the Florida West Coast Dance Company, the Cecchetti Students Ballet Company, and Cecchetti Ballet Theatre, under whose auspices she has been staging, choreographing, and directing 20 productions of Tchaikovsky’s beloved classical ballet, The Nutcracker.

Prior to founding Cheshire Dance Centre in 1995, Betty had previously directed Barrington Ballet in Great Barrington, MA and the Betty Seibert School of Ballet and Theatre Dance in Bradenton FL. Her experience at those studios richly prepared her to serve as the owner, artistic director, and business administrator of Cheshire Dance Centre. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, and volunteers at her church and for dance programs at local schools. She holds an Associate’s degree in Speech and Theatre Arts from Manatee Community College. To learn more, please visit www.cheshiredancecentre.com.
