Donna W. Low

Donna W. Low is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Legal Services. Donna is the Managing Partner at Low McKinley Baleria & Salenko, LLP.

In 2014, the firm opened a second office in Walnut Creek, California. Since the firm’s inception in 2004, one half of the firm’s attorneys have attained an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell. The firm defends physicians, acute and long term care hospitals and other healthcare providers in civil cases and administrative proceedings throughout Northern and Central California.

Donna has been AV by Martindale-Hubbell since 2005 and was inducted into the 2009 Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. She is an invited member of the California Medical Legal Committee, an organization limited to 70 attorneys and in 2014, she was appointed to the California State Bar Executive Committee on Law Firm Management and Technology. Donna’s legal focus includes defending physicians, large multispecialty medical groups and acute care hospitals against allegations of medical malpractice. She also regularly defends skilled nursing and residential care facilities in cases involving allegations of elder abuse and neglect. Prior to commencement of her legal career in 1990, Donna was a Registered Nurse and was the Nurse Manager of the Coronary Care and Medical Intensive Care Units at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

Her background in healthcare and law are unique and facilitate her representation of healthcare practitioners and facilities. Certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, Donna is a Fellow of the Litigation Council of America. In October 2012, the San Francisco Chronicle featured her as one of the best lawyers in the San Francisco area. In 2013, she was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women as Woman of the Year in California for the practice of Law. In October 2013, she was featured as a Legal Leader in San Francisco’s Top Rated Lawyers. She was selected by The Recorder as a Top Rated Lawyer in Healthcare Law in 2013 and 2014. Furthermore, in 2014/2015, Donna was recognized in Northern California SuperLawyers and in the SuperLawyers Business Edition. In 2015, she was recognized as a Top 50 Female Lawyer in Northern California and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Association Foundation.

Donna has lectured and published on a broad range of subjects including California civil procedure, trial practice and medical malpractice litigation. She has lectured to physicians on behalf of the Accreditation Counsel for Continuing Medical Education and to attorneys for Continuing Education of the State Bar. Donna regularly consults with acute and long term care facilities and physician groups on risk management strategies, effective communication techniques and documentation. Donna obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. In 1990, she completed her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
